Absolutely love these Senegalese baskets from Serena and Lily! Wow wow wow. They come in blue, pink, or tan. I want to replace our laundry hampers and stuffed animal holder with these....what a big step up that'll be...I can already picture it!
Even though Little Pea always pulls hair clips out of her hair, I continue to search for the cutest out there. I love this little hand knit alpaca barrette. It is simply lovely. It's from Oeufs small clothing line, available from www.oeufnyc.com.
After reviewing every other rocking horse on the FACE of the EARTH, and trying to convince myself to buy a less expensive one, and failing, I finally just went for it. I LOVE the Playsam Scandinavian Rocking Horse. I can't wait for it to arrive! This is another piece to pass on to the next generation. I think black will be nice too....it's always nice to have one black thing in a room. Merry Christmas to me! (Uh, I mean...the kids).
Just wanted to mention that Nic Cubio (another wooden German toy) is the most wonderful toy ever! Wild Man got one set from one set of grandparents in Germany first and then we were so impressed with it that the other set of grandparents bought two more sets! So now we can build all sorts of stuff and both our kids LOVE it. These blocks are so well designed for play even for a 20 month old. Also the blocks don't tip over easily, which makes them less frustrating than other blocks. I just discovered them at The Wooden Wagon but my parents ordered them from the beautiful store LeoLeno in Winnetka, IL.
In my Christmas toy search, I discovered this absolutely lovely little family from Ostheimer, made in Germany. Since we are already maxed out gift-wise for Christmas (it will seem as if Santa got confused in his old age and visited our house multiple times), Sweet Pea will be getting this family for her birthday along with a cute little one room doll house. I am in love with these wooden figures! I can't wait for her birthday! Also want to get a few farm animals.....Is it strange that I never really grew out of this? Here's where I will probably buy them...
It's no secret that I'm a HUGE fan of Hanna Andersson's PJs and Playdresses, among other things. But now Hanna Andersson is making Long Johns for Serena and Lily. I think they are really chic....love the Swedish Horse pattern too!
I love the Engelberger Nativity set from Nova Natural. It was an early gift from Santa (aka Grandma and Grandpa). What I love most about it is that it is child-like in form, yet truly beatiful. The kids love it, especially Sweet Pea who carries baby Jesus around everywhere. We look forward to adding more figures in the coming years. I plan on being super anal about it so it can become something of a family heirloom....and yet relaxed enough to let the kids play. A fine line to balance!
The Prince (aka Wild Man) will be getting the awesome Land of Nod Noddingham Castle and Schleich figures for Christmas from Santa (aka Grandma and Grandpa, in this case). I can't wait to open it and start playing....I mean watch the Prince play. Beautifl toy.
I was BLOWN AWAY by Trader Joe's Gingerbread House Kit. It seems to me that they found this kit in Germany and just made the packaging cooler. It is truly adorable and includes everything you need....even four sweet little candy figures to stand in front. It was so easy and it really looks adorable in spite of the fact that my 4 year old and 20 month old helped a lot. A FANTASTIC BUY at $7.99.
